The concert hall of the University of the Arts Berlin in the 60s was the homestead of the Berliner Philharmoniker under the conduction of Herbert von Karajan. The hall was completely renovated in 2009/10 and is now under monumental protection. It was not just the seating which was renewed but much more it was the stagecraft, acoustic, lighting and ventilation which was upgraded to the newest technological possibilities. The result is a wonderful listening experience due to a fantastic acoustic. The hall comprises 1255 seats and is location for varied programs like artistic-musical competitions, orchestra, chamber music and choir concerts or examinations.
